Itinerary

Rafting at Cajón del Maipo

Cajón del Maipo, Central Andes

Are you ready for a day of raging rapids and picturesque views? In the morning, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Santiago and head out of the city across the Maipo Valley and towards the Andes Mountains. It's surprising how quickly the big city turns into a quaint countryside.

Arriving at our river base, we'll meet our expert guides who will provide all the necessary rafting gear (wet suit, helmet, paddle and life jacket) and go over the technical and safety instructions with us. The Maipo River, flowing between steep canyon gorges and cutting through the heart of the Andes Mountains, is a class 3 and 4 river and therefore is suitable for both first-timers and experienced rafters.

We’ll splash down the river valley for approximately 16 km and enjoy the rapids and spectacular Andean scenery before arriving at San Jose de Maipo, where we’ll drive back to base. Between March and September, we'll raft to El Melocoton, 9 km downstream from the start point. In both cases, the rafting lasts around one hour.

After finishing the adventure, we’ll enjoy a tasty lunch and have the opportunity to relax in a large swimming pool with panoramic mountain views or participate in a short, scenic hike. Afterwards we'll head back to Santiago.
